Share a Yacht Holidays in Croatia

Share a Yacht or "Pot Luck" holidays are for experienced sailors, often traveling on their own and who are happy to share with others to make up the crew of a yacht. These holidays are not intended for beginners, or those with only very limited sailing experience (we offer the Learn to Sail option for those people) and ideally anybody choosing one of these options should be at a basic skippering level. You sail as part of a flotilla with the emphasis on good sailing by day with the social side of a flotilla in the evenings. These trips are particularly suited to newly qualified skippers looking to get experience of being in charge themselves, and are a very cost effective way of having a sailing holiday.

How the Programme works

• We offer Share a Yacht Holidays on a number of weeks during the season and these are show in the chart below. We do not run them on all weeks but limit the number of dates available, so that we get more like minded people on the dates that we do run, giving a better mix to crew the yachts with.

• The yachts that we use for the Share a Yacht trips are always yachts from our In House Fleet and all start from Murter in Croatia. Based on the information given at the time of booking we make up the crews to get what seems to be the best mix depending on ages, experience etc

• Prices are based on each person having their own cabin. Where two people share a cabin then there is a 50% discount on the price of the second person. There will be a maximum of five on board a 35ft yacht , but three or four is more usual, as these holidays are popular with single travellers.

• The price of the holiday is a per person cost payable at the time of booking, and includes, end cleaning, yacht deposit insurance, fuel and tourist tax. Each yacht must then pay their own mooring and marina fees as they go along and as these vary from about 195Euros to 295 Euros for the week, so each yacht needs to operate a kitty for this.

• All flotillas start on Saturday's meaning that you join the yacht on a Saturday, but then do not sail until the Sunday morning. You return to the same port that you started from (unless stated otherwise at the time of booking) the following Friday afternoon having had six full days sailing, spend the last night on board, and then depart the following morning by 0900hrs.

• All Share a Yacht's sail as part of the flotilla, and are under the overall guidance of the flotilla skippers.

• For Share A Yacht to work, we must have a minimum of two people booked to manage any yacht, but of course we normally get much more than this. However when we take the first booking, there is always the risk that we will not get anyone else booking for that particular week, so to cater for this we operate as follows..

1. If you have no flexibility of traveling dates and want to confirm your holiday, book flights etc, then we can only take the booking on the understanding that if there are no other clients for Share a yacht that week, then we will allocate you a place on one of the Learn to sail yachts that sail every week, and there is no extra cost for this. At the same time we will note your week down as a definite share a yacht week and then push that particular week, to encourage other bookings.

2. If you have some flexibility of dates and do not have to commit to flights immediately, then we will option your booking but not take any deposit, and then note this on our planner as a "Proposed Share A Yacht Week ", so that others can see that people want share a yacht that week. As soon as we get at least one other person for that week, we will let you know so that your option can be confirmed at that stage at which point you can commit to flights etc. This will then become a "Definite Share A Yacht Week".

Dates and Prices

• The calendar below shows the weeks that we currently either have "Definite Share A Yacht", or "Proposed Share A Yacht".

• Weeks with a Red Status are"Definite" while, those with a Blue Status are"Proposed". Proposed weeks are either weeks that we are suggesting, or are weeks that have been specifically requested by somebody.

• If you are interested in having a Share a Yacht on a particular week that we have not listed, contact us, as we can make that a"Proposed week." For this reason proposed weeks shown in blue are liable to change, so if you are interested in a specific date, it is important to let us know so that we can hold an option, without any commitment on your part, for you. Once at least two people are interested in a proposed date, then we will let you know so that you can confirm the booking and this will then change to a "Definite week". This is necessary as there have to be at least two people booked before a Share a Yacht can operate.

The above payments include the contribution to the yacht security insurance, end cleaning, bed linen etc. These prices are based on having a single cabin. Where two people are sharing a cabin there is 50% discount on the price of the second person. On top of the above then please add £9/10€ per person per week for the tourist tax. £40/€45€ per person to be paid on site towards the yachts fuel, gas etc. Mooring and marina fees while away from the base marina are not included and each crew must pay these as you go along. These are generally between 195€ to 295€ per yacht per week, so please allow for these.
